Our Chickens
The Current Flock
These are the beloved creatures that help feed people.
We currently partner with Missing Elements Non-profit
who distribute the eggs.
Red One
Speck
Our only Rooster, he is a New Hampshire Red and protects the Ladies.
He will be the Big Daddy for the babies that are now in our incubator as we grow the flock to help feed local people in need.
She is a Brahma who hatched February 2026. Brahmas are known as the King of the chickens, although the hens are just slightly bigger than the other species. She is pretty docile and stops laying eggs if she gets upset/frightened. her eggs are light brown with tiny speckles. We can see at least one of her babies are developing in the incubator. It is due to hatch on Oct. 8th.
Tippy
Pidgy
She is an Americauna. She lays beautiful pale blue eggs and is very gentle. We can only tell which eggs are hers when we place them right next to her sister's! Her feathers are lighter than her sister's and that is how we can tell them apart.
She is another Americauna. She lays pale blue eggs with just a tinge on the aqua side. We have to compare her eggs to Tippy's before we write her name on it! Yes, we write each chicken's name and the date it was laid on each egg! We are very connected to them and celebrate their contributions!
Butters
The Incubator
She is a Buff Orpington. They are known to be great Mama's and usually go broody once or twice per year. This means she won't lay eggs for about a month and will sit on the nest to try to hatch eggs. Buff Orpington's are known to be easily handled. She lays eggs that are "buff" color and they are still on the small side because she has only been laying for a month and a half.
Here is our 7 Chick incubator and ova scope for watching the babies develope.
We have a 50/50 chance of getting a hen. When there are 2 or more rooster's they often fight , so we sell them to the Western Farm store in downtown Santa Rosa. If anyone is interested in a rooster, and we have more than one, we give them away.
